Ask Bly is an experiment with a custom-built AI for Bly, Oregon. We are still in development, and to keep costs down there is a per-session limit.
How Ask Bly works
Ask Bly is built from the pages on this site. We regularly scan the public HTML, extract the text, and store it as a searchable library. When you ask a question, the system compares your words to that library and pulls the most relevant passages.
A language model then turns those passages into a short, friendly answer. It is instructed to stay grounded in the retrieved text and avoid adding facts that are not explicitly in the site content. If a detail is missing, it should say so and ask a brief follow-up question.
For practical questions like lodging, food, or services, Ask Bly prioritizes the Business Directory so it can respond with current listings. It will only include contact details when asked. For trip or visit requests, it builds a simple plan using the same business listings and nearby locations already listed on the site.
This is an evolving project. If you notice an error or a missing story, send feedback and we will update the source pages so the next refresh improves the answer quality.
